The BlackBerry Z10 is supposed to be BlackBerry’s saving grace and first device to run on the BlackBerry 10 platform. It runs on the latest Blackberry 10 OS version 10.2.1.With its compelling design, simple and intuitive interface, this phone presents a suitable Smartphone for consumer’s needs and preferences. Z10 is a fully touchscreen device like Apple’s trend-setting iPhone and other handsets running on Google’s Android software, including Samsung’s popular Galaxy.  The company has also introduced more than 70,000 apps for users in the BlackBerry World which has been BlackBerry’s biggest pain point when compared with other Android Smartphone in the market.  However, with the new OS you have the option of sideloading any Android app. It is betting high on this phone to gain the market leader position in a market that is currently dominated by Apple and Samsung. Taking on the iOS and Android operating platforms, BlackBerry 10 is the biggest launch in the Smartphone industry. Z10 directly takes on Apple’s iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy SIII and Nokia Lumia 920.

BlackBerry Z10 has much improved features and specifications and here’s a look at each of its unique specs:

Key Features

OS & Processor: The phone is powered by 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM which is on par with the top range Smartphone. The Phone brags about having more than 70,000 applications and games for its new OS. Integrated GPU is there to support CPU for any GPU hungry games and blackberry’s new applications. Z10 runs the latest BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1, that has support for both Hinglish and Hindi typing.

Design & Display: Z10 is the best looking touchscreen phone from Blackberry’s hat till date featuring a 4.2-inch IPS screen with an elegant design, and a great on-screen keyboard. The WXGA capacitive touchscreen supports 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and gives you great display (365 ppi ) and gesture support delivers satisfying navigation. At 9 mm, this is the thinnest handset from the Canadian manufacturer. The screen’s 15:9 aspect ratio is same as that of Nokia’s Lumia 920. It comes with an appealing design in a bold bar-shaped rectangular body and rounded edges with a decent build quality and functional layout that makes it easy to handle. It features a micro HDMI out port for presentations, and advanced sensors such NFC (near field communications) to support mobile payments and the exchange of information with a tap of the Smartphone. This enables you to connect the BlackBerry Z10 directly to a TV for big screen viewing. Weighing 137.5g (4.85 oz), it’s nowhere near as heavy as the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, yet it’s not as feather light as the iPhone 5. Also an interesting feature we find is that the rear can be removed easily by placing a finger in the indented speaker grill at the base of the Z10.

Storage and Battery: The Z10 comes with16 GB internal memory storage which can be expandable upto 64GB via MicroSD card. This should appeal to many who have been put off by the likes of the iPhone range and HTC One, which don’t offer storage expansion. The phone has a removable 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery that offers talk time of up to 10 hours on 2Gand standby of 312 hours.

Camera:  It has 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, face detection and offers video recording at 1080 pixels with video stabilization. It also has a 2MP front camera for video calling. Additionally the phone comes with an interesting functionality called the Time Shift that lets you capture a group shot where everyone is smiling with their eyes wide open All said and done, the camera performance is better than previous BB phones, but not quite comparable with its competitors including the iPhone 5 and Lumia 920.

Connectivity: BlackBerry is known for its secure connectivity. Networking and staying connected with the world are made simpler with Z10 ensuring uninterrupted internet connectivity. Users can connect to the internet using multiple platforms including 4G LTE, 3G and Wi Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB, A-GPS and micro HDMI out port. The phone has 802.11bgn connectivity, allowing you to easily exchange music, pictures and any other data with other 802.11bgn devices.

Multimedia: There are multimedia features like media players, social networking apps, games and FM radio etc. available in the BlackBerry Z10. The most phenomenal feature introduced by the company is BlackBerry balance, a system that allows users to separate professional communications and applications from music, photographs and other personal items. Another awesome feature is BlackBerry Hub which integrates all your messaging and social networking services at one place. From here, you can click and hold on any notification to bring up options for call back, reply, etc

BlackBerry also advanced its BlackBerry Messenger to include video, letting users move from chat to video. Another new feature in BlackBerry Messenger allows users to share screens. Screen Share feature allows you to share your pictures, business documents or an important mail with another person by sharing your phone’s screen with them. The phone has the newly introduced feature of BlackBerry Flow, one that allows moving in and out of applications without any hassles. Other fun apps are BB Remember, Story Maker, etc.
