GOSF 2014: An Overview

GOSF aka Great Online Shopping Festival 2014 is all set for its third edition. This three day festival, which was created by Google India on December 12, 2012, will be commencing on December 10th and will be wrapped on December 12th. It has been reported that around 300 offline as well as online merchants have roped in this time to participate in this biggest shopping festival and Google plans to attract around 2 million visitors this year. The main concept of this great online shopping festival is to promote more online shopping with great discount prices for a short period.

GOSF 2013 saw great results in fact with respect to traffic and sales. Daily sales increased to 60% and traffic to more than cent percent for each major store. In fact the number of new customers had also increased last year for almost all the stores that participated. Google was forced to extent the number of days of the festival considering the demand. This year too, Google hopes to bring a similar result with much more aggressive participation from the consumers.

In fact, this year Google has something new to offer to its consumers by announcing a pre-party today, December 25th. According to close sources, Google will conduct an event in collaboration with a group of 14 shortlisted brands, which will be starting from 27th November till 9th December.

During these 14 days, Google will reserve a day each for one company among the 14 shortlisted companies to offer day-long deals and run contests for consumers. Apart from this, a lucky winner will be announced everyday in these two weeks, who will get a chance to shop for free from a selected list. It has also been reported that shoppers will get a chance to do 14 minutes of free shopping every day for these 14 days!

Apart from these, it has been said that a new segment called Rs.299 Corner will also be introduced during this year in GOSF. In this segment, all those branded items that are priced between Rs.600-1500 will be sold at Rs.299! Apart from this, the product will be delivered free of cost and COD is also available!

Among the 300 stores participating in this year’s GOSF, the major online stores include Yatra, redBus, Myntra, FoodPanda, Indiatimes Shopping, Fab Furnish, Goibibo, Zivame, Jabong, Snapdeal, Amazon, Zovi, flipkart, Domino’s and HomeShop 18. In fact all these stores were a part of GOSF 2013 as well. Myntra showed a 3.5 times increase in its revenue last year. This year Myntra is expecting much more vigorous sales during GPSF 2014. It is to be noted that Myntra had set the record of selling 1 Lakh fashion products in 24 hours in GOSF 2013.

Even Snapdeal is one major store which is hoping to give good offers during GOSF 2014 to scale up their sale volume. Last year Snapdeal had 50% increase in new registration. Indiatimes Shopping which got 60% new customers last year, is also in the run with good offers in GOSF 2014. Amazon, which had 5% increase in overall sales is also expecting to reap this year with plenty good offers . Hope that the same continues in GOSF 2014 as well!
