Amazon India Snapdeal Or Flipkart, Who Won The Festival Sale Race?
Amazon India, Snapdeal, and Flipkart had made it to the headlines in the beginning of this month with their biggest festival sales eyeing the Dusshera and Diwali shopping. Amazon India kick-started the sale on October 1 with their Amazon Great Indian Sale and now after their sale is over, Amazon claims that they have sold 15 million units worth goods in their five-day sale of Great Indian Festival Sale. They also claim that the biggest selling product during the festival sale was the Prime Subscription Service, which is soon going to offer video content.
It was already reported ahead of the sale that Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal are on a tug of war to reap the most for the festival sale. For the same, all of them had decided to spend extensively on advertisement and the biggest spend was done by Amazon. It has been reported that Amazon is said to have got the maximum orders during the sale till day and also this count stands before the cancellation of any orders. Still, the volume order is in surplus for Amazon compared to Flipkart and Snapdeal.
Meanwhile, Flipkart and Snapdeal has one more day to end their festival sales – The Big Billion Days Sale & Unbox Diwali Sale. Yet, Snapdeal has come up saying they have already crossed their internal target sales and has reached Rs.500-600 in Gross Merchandising Value in four days. This is the first time Snapdeal is participating the festival sale and so this is indeed a great boost for them to reap more than what they had intended to.
“We have over achieved our targets for the four days by about three times,” said one of the persons who is working close with the festival sale. Snapdeal claims to have sold more than 250,000 kitchen appliances, 100,000+ pairs of footwear till now and has sold over 100,000 mobile phones in the first eight hours of the sale! Mobiles were the best-selling category for Snapdeal which was followed by computers & peripherals, appliances, fashion and home. A major demand came from Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad & Pune which were followed by Chennai and Kolkata. Flipkart has also rumoured to have crossed Rs.1500 crore mark, but nothing has been announced officially.
It is the Amazon who has won the festival sale race with a huge success which is followed by Flipkart and though Snapdeal landed up third, they have been able to make a great impact with a sale ahead of what they had intended to reap in five days.Amazon India, Snapdeal Or Flipkart, Who Won The Festival Sale Race? by Gayathry
