Apple Launches iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus & Apple Watch

Apple finally launches their latest larger and thinner screened smartphones iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. Apple CEO Tom Cook unveiled all the three devices on 9th September, at the Flint Centre in Cupertino, California. As per the reports, the new handsets will be available in countries like the US, Canada, the UK and six other countries from September 19. The rest of the countries will be followed later. iPhone 6 is said to have three color variants – silver, gold and space grey. It will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB respectively. The 16GB is priced at $199, 64 GB at $299 and 128GB at 399 and is a two-year contract. The iPhone 6 Plus is available for $299 for 16 GB, $399 for 64GB and $499 for 128GB respectively, again with a two-year contract.

Reports claim that it might take a longer time for the handsets to reach in India. Speculations are in air claiming that it might be available in the country in the month of October or November, which are the festive seasons. The price in India is also to be announced. Their iPhone 5S is being sold in the country for Rs.41500 for 16 GB. But, eBay have already listed the price on their site for prior booking, claiming it to be over Rs.80k. It has also been rumoured that iPhones will be available in India from October 17.

While unveiling the handsets, Apple CEO Tom Cook said that the new phones are the best phones that Apple has ever done. He also added that the new phones have bigger displays and promises that they are amazing products in all ways. Now, this has increased the expectations in the market as well as among the users.

The iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch display, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch screen. While comparing to the thickness of 7.6 mm of iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 has a thickness of 6.9 mm and iPhone 6 Plus has 7.1 mm respectively.

The new handsets have 8MP iSight camera and support Voice over LTE. The iPhone 6 has improved face detection for selfies and group selfies. Also, it will be very useful for all those fitness freaks out there as the iPhone now has a barometer that senses air pressure to measure relative elevation.

Apple has also announced its foray into payments with Apple Pay, which is most secured, will work with three major payment networks: American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. Apple Pay will be available in the US in October 2014. Target and Groupon have already started off with it, and others like Disney, Chipotle, and MLB.com will also be coming up by the end of the year.


Apple Watch

Apple’s latest smartwatch has a flat screen with sapphire glass. It spots a digital crown with a twisting control, where you can zoom, navigate the watch without covering the display, runs apps, takes dictation and interacts with the iPhone. It also has a gyroscope and an accelerometer that can measure fitness. Above all, it also uses GPS and Wi-Fi in the user’s iPhone to help in tracking the distance.


Apple Watch is available with colorful wrist bands which come in pink, blue and white shades, with hand-crafted gold buckles. Apple Watch is available from $349 and will be in the market from next year. It works with iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, and 6 Plus.

The smartwatch will be available in three variants – Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition, which is made from 18-karat gold.
