Jivi, a New Delhi based firm has come forward with the cheapest Android phone in India. It is their first smarphone and its price is just Rs.1999! Isnt that cool?
According to Jivi Mobiles CEO Pankaj Anand, “The intent was clear. We want to make available a good quality smartphone at an extremely affordable price, we are doing this on very thin margins.” He also added that the company will be soon be launching new devices in the coming weeks which will be powered by latest Android KitKat operating system.
Jivi will be exclusively sold through online store Amazon. Last week, another company Intex had launched a smartphone Aqua T2 for Rs.2699, which is also powered by Android 4.4 KitKat OS. They are sold exclusively through the online store Flipkart and had then claimed to be the cheapest smarphone available in India.

Jivi JSP 20 is a dual sim smarphone with a 3.5 inch display, 1GHz processor and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. It has 128 MB RAM, 256MB inbuilt storage that is expandable with a microSD card (up to 32GB), a 2-megapixel rear camera with flash, and a 1350mAh battery.
Pankaj added saying that they expect to sell around two lakh units initially. He said that the phone is an entry-level device for those people who are looking to upgrade and that this initiation is in sync with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative. He also said that they have planned for aggressive promotion at all places to make the people aware of the phone, so that it will help them buy it. It is available only through Amazon. He concluded saying that they are planning to introduce more such phones offline as well as this is their first initiation.
