Motorola Launches Latest Droid Series Smartphone
Motorola has finally launched their latest Droid series smartphone. Known as Droid Turbo, the handset is exclusively available on the US mobile store Verizon. The store has already announced that the phone will be available on their online and offline stores from October 30.
The new Droid Turbo smartphone is build either in Ballistic Nylon or a metalized Kevlar fibre. The smartphone has been priced at $199.99. The Indian price for the 32 GB model comes around Rs.12,250 with new two year activation or $25 per month on Verizon Edge. Droid Turbo will be available in Metallic Black, Metallic Red, and Black Ballistic Nylon models.
The 64 GB model is priced at $249. The Indian price will come upto Rs. 15,300. It comes with new two year activation or $27 per month on Verizon Edge. It will be available in Black Ballistic Nylon.
Looking at the specifications of this latest Droid series smartphone, Motorola Droid Turbo comes with some top notch features. It has a QHD display which is one of the main highlights of the phone. It has a 5.2 inch QHD display offering a pixel density of 565ppi. Now, this is much higher when compared to the the 5.5-inch LG G3 and 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 4 which come at 534ppi and 515ppi respectively.
The screen of the handset has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective layer. The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor which is clocked at 2.7GHz coupled with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It works on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and features water-repellent nano-coating. It is claimed to be water resistant as well.
Motorola Droid Turbo has a massive 3900mAh battery that can work for 48 hours, claims the handset makers. It also supports Motorola’s Turbo Charger, a new accessory from the company stables and is said to provide 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging, which is incredible.
Motorola Droid Turbo has a 21MP rear autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash. Slow motion video, burst mode, auto HDR, Panorama and tap to focus are also available and it can record 4K videos at 24fps. It also has a 2MP front camera. It also supports supports 4G LTE with LTE Cat 4, apart from CDMA, EVDO Rev A and GSM/ UMTS/ HSPA+.
The handset has many pre-installed apps which include Droid Zap app, a feature that makes sharing of images and videos easy with nearby friends, and Zap to TV, which uses Google Chromecast to create a slideshow on a big screen. It also has Moto Display, a feature from the Moto X (Gen 2), which can wake up the phone to show the time and notifications when user’s reach for the phone. The Metallic Red and Metallic Black variants weigh 169 grams. The Black Ballistic Nylon weighs 176 grams.
